How can I transfer a recorded movie from a DirecTV DVR to computer, it is not a tivo?

Due to the way my house was wired, it is difficult to run a new cable from the the satellite to the DirecTV dvr (tivo). Can the current wire be split so that there are two inputs for the TiVo?
