I am looking into getting tivo from ebay and I am find some really cheap series 2 models but they are Direct TV versions. Will these work with my cable TV, for example will I get the Tivo updates and if so will I need to pay the monthly charge to do so.

It has cable jacks on the back but I’ve been told that it was set up for Direct TV only. Does anyone know a way I can re-configure it for cable?? Please help!
