Does Direct tv TiVo Work with dish network TV service ?

Unfortunately not, the DirecTV Tivo’s ONLY will record with a Valid Subscription card in place. With your OLD subscription card in place you can use the DirecTivo to watch the shows/movies you already have stored on it, that is about the extent of use you will get out of it.
Now I see you said you already have Dish so I guess this may not matter, but your DirecTV Tivo (As long as it is NOT the R15 unit) can EASILY be modified with software to upgrade to LARGE hard drive and ENABLE the USB ports so you can network the DirecTivo to your homes wired/wireless network. Then you can transfer any new shows recorded (once it has been modified) to a Networked PC for editing and burning to DVD. Now this is NOT available to any Dish Network DVRs at this time. So I only mention this if you ever decide to switch back to DirecTV.
Just FYI,In my case I am still using DirecTV Tivo’s on my account and WOULD NEVER switch to their newer DVR+’s. I have 5 DirecTivo’s on my account that ALL are networked, They ALL have 250GB hard drive for about 221 Hours of Standard Definition Recording Time, I can access them over the internet, I have MRV (MultiRoom Viewing) which allows all the DirecTivo’s to transfer shows amongst themselves form other rooms, I also can listen to all the MP3’s I have on my networked PC from the DirecTivo. I can View ALL the Pics I have on my Netowrked PC also through the Tivo. So IF you ever decide to switch back and want to UPGRADE your DirecTivo’s (NOT the R15 units though) then check out these sites, or if you want to upgrade them and sell them on Ebay you can make quite a bit of money back off them.
