CAN i USE MY OLDER DIRECT TV TIVO CONSOLE WITH REGULAR CABLE?

It DOES have a coax line in and out. I believe I can update the Tivo with the phone line by setting it to dial TIVO NOT Direct tv. I will find out and update on this issue. thank you for all your input.
