I would just swap my direct TV box for a upgrade with built-in Tivo, but I can not do that as I am sharing the Direct TV service and can not alter the bill. I hear you can add a Tivo box and service seperate from the Direct TV box.

Will the Tivo box control the Direct TV box? I read where you can connect the boxes, but people had problems with my particular Direct TV box (D11) becuase of the usb port rather than a serial port on the back. Is that still a problem or has Tivo upgraded their box to work with the Direct TV D11?

I would like to know that I can replace the Direct TV remote with the new Tivo remote.

Any other thoughts on my situation are apprishiated. Thanks!
