Directv is the Best Option for Home Entertainment Available Today

DirecTV is a leading provider in satellite television. DirecTV offers what is considered to be the best value in home satellite entertainment today. DirecTV offers packages that include all of the most popular channels and includes such modern entertainment options such as HD TV compatibility, TiVo, DVR, and even free installation of all of the hardware for 4 rooms in your house.
Hi Def TV is a digital format that has a ton more pixels per square TV screen inch, and the picture quality is there to prove it. If you remember the old big screen TV’s, even though they could have massive TV screens, the quality was always generally poor. On some of the old big screen TV’s you actually had to watch from a certain angle or else you could hardly see the picture at all. This is not the case with an HD TV. On an HD TV you will get insanely clear picture on an HD compatible big screen TV and from any angle. Of course not all channels have converted to HD format yet, but it is said that all channels are working towards making the transition in the coming years. Don’t just take my word for it, look it up online, and then take a look at your local electronics store. I am sure that they will have an HD TV on display showing a channel that uses the HD TV format. If they are using a channel that uses the HD TV format, chances are they are getting that channel through DirecTV satellite TV.
For years people have struggled with cable television and VCR’s. Cable television has always been known for certain problems that go with it, but how about the VCR itself? The VCR or Video Cassette Recorder itself has had it’s share of problems. The Video Cassette Recorder’s manufacturers have also had their fair share of complaints I would guess. DirecTV also offers great parental controls for all of those young parents that have worries about the content that their children will be subjected to on television.
Actually you can get TiVo and DVR for free with DirecTV programming packages! This means that with DirecTV you will get a great programming package with packages starting with 50 channels going all the way up past 250 channels, you will get the hardware including: the satellite dish, Hughes TV top receiver, TiVo and DVR units, and remote control., and free installation for up to any four rooms in your home! If you are not familiar with TiVo and the DVR take a moment to read about them online at the DirecTV website. To give you a taste of what they are about though, TiVo actually allows you to pause and rewind live TV. The DVR system allows you to record television and store hours and hours of your favorite programs with no cumbersome video cassette tapes to stack on your otherwise clutter free book shelves. This solves the problem of the old VCRs! Take a look at the DirecTV website today, you will surely be astonished at the amazing value. Your television experience will never be the same!

DVD Recorder Buying Guide
November 26, 2007 by admin · Leave a Comment
With a DVD Recorder, you can have the recording features of a VCR except in a much more crisp, clear picture. Not only can you record your favorite TV shows straight to a DVD, you can also watch movies just like any other stand alone DVD Player.
There are a lot of things you may need to consider before buying the DVD recorder that’s right for you. Below you will find a list of things our product specialists recommend our customers to look for before making a purchasing decision.
Disc Compatibility: You should consider the types of discs the DVD Recorder is compatible with. Try to find a recorder that is compatible with a wide range of formats, including the DVD-R/RW format (which is compatible with most DVD players and computers).
Built-In VCR: If you have a large collection of VHS tapes and want to convert them to DVD, or simply want an all-in-one media player, consider a DVD recorder that comes with a built-in VCR.
Hard Drive: If you want to record television shows and view them at a later time, a DVD Recorder with a hard drive may be for you. A recorder with a hard drive allows you to record, play, and delete files without ever having to burn them onto a DVD. And if you want to keep the files you simply burn them to a DVD for archiving. Another thing to note, a hard drive gives a recorder the ability to function as a basic DVR (Digital Video Recorder).
Editing Capabilities: See if the recorder has any editing features available to make your DVD’s a bit more enjoyable. Of course no DVD Recorder can compete with a full on video editing software on a computer, but having the basic editing options can really enhance the quality of your videos.
Electronic Program Guides: Electronic guides such as TiVo® and TV Guide On Screen® provide you with simple ways to set your recordings and can do keyword searches to help you find what you want. A DVD recorder that supports these kinds of services will allow you to record your favorite movies or TV shows whether or not you are home.
IR Blaster: IR Blaster is a feature that comes on some DVD Recorders, which use the same type of signal as your remote to automatically change the channel on your cable box to the appropriate channel when a show or movie needs to be recorded. This way you can record your shows when you are gone even if your TV is set to another channel.
Available Inputs: You may want to connect a digital camera or camcorder to the DVD recorder, so check if the recorder has the appropriate inputs for the devices you want to connect.
Definitions:
IR Blaster (Infrared Blaster): An amplifier of infrared (IR) signals.
VHS (Video Home System): Widely used method of recording audio and video electrical signals onto magnetic tape for use with VCRs.
VCR (Video Cassette Recorder): A magnetic recording and playback machine. Generally used for recording and viewing full-motion video, but useful (when adapted) as a data backup device.
DVR (Digital Video Recorder): A video recording device that uses a hard disk drive or optical disk drive, instead of a VCR tape, to record programs.

How can I record my favorite tv shows without needing a TiVo?

Is there other devices I can use so that I do not have to pay for TiVo? I have heard of some devices with hard-drives in them but I do not know how that works. Please help me because I am tired of missing my favorite show.
How much are people paying to rent a Comcast cable card to insert into their TIVO HD?

I’m thinking about purchasing a TIVO HD and was wondering how much Comcast is charging to use cable cards. I believe the TIVO HD requires two of them.

Do your Own Instant Slow Motion Replays With Directv and Tivo
November 24, 2007 by admin · Leave a Comment
If you are into sports then DirecTV has a few things that you might be interested in, because they are the sports leader in TV programming today. One of the options that they have for the sports fans in their family of TV viewers is DVR Powered by TiVo and it gives you some very unique functions that let you get so much more out of your sports programming from DirecTV. The first trick that it does is instant slow motion replays at the touch of a button and if you are a true sports fanatic then you know just how important this function is.
For far too many years sports fans were at the mercy of the broadcasters for this function and sometimes there were things that they didn’t see that the viewers did in all the fast moving action. Now with the power of TiVo in your own hand you can replay anything that you want to, any time that you like, as many times as you want to.
If you are into TV commercials, then you can record all of them as they come on during your games, but if you are like most people you can use the TiVo function to instantly zip right past them in seconds and get right back to the game. Many sports fanatics like to do their own track and field events right in their home during games and its called the bathroom and refrigerator dash, but if you don’t wish to participate in this event you can use TiVo to stop the game to do your business and then restart it right where it left off when you return.
DirecTV is the all time leader in sports programming in the universe and TiVo is one of the reasons, because not all TV programming service providers make it available to their customers. Another of the reasons that they dominate in sports programming is the twenty-five premium sports channels that they have in their Total Choice programming packages. Don’t be fooled by programmers that offer a multitude of sports channels, but they aren’t premium sports channels.
Non premium sports channels are a lot less expensive for the service provider to procure on the open market and if you watch what’s on them you will quickly realize why this is so. Geriatric sumo wrestling, competition cow chip tossing and under water table tennis are just a few of the fascinating and exciting sports events that you might find to watch on some of these non premium sports channels.
DirecTV also stocks two exclusive sports channels in its arsenal that you can’t get from any other TV programming service provider. They are NFL Sunday Ticket and NCAA Mega March Madness and they are both full of games and special events such as all the charity events that they put on during the season.
They also feature lots and lots of intriguing and provocative debate and commentary as well as exclusive one on one interviews with all the top sports figures in both the college and professional level. If sports are important to you, then you really should contact DirecTV online to see what they have for you, before you make a regrettable commitment with another TV programming service provider.
